Egg Donation - A solution for women that cannot generate viable egg cells for either IVF or normal pregnancy. Cyprus IVF Clinic employs a particularly strict egg donor program that meticulously screens all prospective egg donors before accepting them to the program to ensure they are free from infectious or genetic diseases. Of course, our genetic specialists and doctors also need to ensure that the egg donors are fertile and in good health overall.
To determine whether a candidate makes an excellent choice for our egg donor program, we conduct tests for infectious diseases, such as Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Cytomegalovirus, German measles, and HIV/AIDS infection. We also perform hormone tests, including Prolactin, Estradiol, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Anti-Mullerian Hormone, Luteinising Hormone, and Follicle Stimulating Hormone. In addition, we check egg donors for chromosomal abnormalities (aka karyotyping), as well as genetic diseases, such as Haemophilia A & B, Familial Mediterranean Fever, Thalassemia Major/Minor, Phenylketonuria, and cystic fibrosis. Lastly, psychosocial tests are also performed on each donor. Once accepted, all egg donors undergo regular bi-monthly screenings at our facilities to make sure they remain healthy and disease-free.
Egg donation is a prevalent fertility solution for couples where the female partner cannot produce viable eggs for IVF or fertilisation. The surrogate egg is then fertilised with the best sperm of the male partner, giving life to an embryo that still carries the couple’s DNA.
